“UNDERSEX” is a photo project of the non-existent association “FAUX”. It is dedicated to artists in emigration from different countries and is designed to resemble a provincial Siberian newspaper, contrasting with erotic visuals, as this theme is still taboo in Russia and Eastern countries.

One artist left. Another stayed. A third one left but then returned. A fourth never left but one day stepped outside and disappeared. The fifth said “no to war” and ended up in a police station. The sixth said “yes to war” and ended up on the front line. The seventh said nothing but got taken away too.

The eighth was in a psych ward because he craved love. The ninth was in a psych ward because he craved sleep. The tenth never laid down but ended up there anyway.

A shout is heard in the street:
—I’m not a citizen.
— Then show your ticket.
— A one-way ticket.
— To hell?
— No, to Paris.

The state looks at us like pieces of meat. People look at us like foreigners. Women look at us like Russian men. Russian men look at us like a threat to their masculinity.

Russia’s repressed sexual life is reduced to military orders:
— Wake up!
— Attention!
— At ease.

The world has changed. Or maybe we have changed. Or maybe we simply no longer exist.
