Snow: Louis Vuitton’s new alpine-themed capsule collection
by Adriano Batista

Virgil Abloh, Artistic Director of the Louis Vuitton Men’s Collections, was an avid snowboarder and masterfully combined sportswear design with everyday essentials. In the designer’s words: “We live in a time of growing awareness, both of ourselves and of our environment, where businessmen in Paris become weekend warriors in Gstaad, continually testing their own limits.” According to Abloh “We hope that the design works, that it is multifunctional, that it has a purpose beyond the obvious.” The capsule was conceived by the designer before his passing on November 28, 2021, and has been executed by the creative teams and collaborators he worked closely with at Louis Vuitton.

Designed with the aim of achieving maximum performance and versatility, the ‘Snow’ collection embeds the codes of ski clothing to adapt them to an urban and functional wardrobe. In the creation process, heat levels are tempered through the lightweight layers of yarn and nylon quilting, allowing the pieces to adapt to alpine and metropolitan climates.
