Sip, Slay, Repeat: How The Barcelona EDITION Celebrates Pride
by Fucking Young!
This Pride month, The Barcelona EDITION isn’t just waving a flag—it’s becoming one. From graphic art explosions to drag royalty brunches, the hotel pulses with a raw, vivid celebration of queer creativity, inclusion, and unfiltered joy.
Stepping into The Barcelona EDITION this Summer is like plunging into a surreal queer utopia. Starting June 26, the lobby entrance is transformed by Mexican artist Humberto Cruz—whose signature pastel-pop optimism has graced the likes of Karol G’s album art—into a mural titled “Where there is Pride, there is Love and Freedom.” Curated by Fucking Young! Magazine, Cruz’s piece radiates his trademark dreamy characters, glittery brushstrokes of love, and candy-hued defiance.
“Being yourself is also an act of love,” Cruz reminds us through his mural’s open-armed embrace.

But the spectacle doesn’t end on the walls. “Loud and Proud” — a cocktail honouring all love’s forms — is available in every bar and restaurant of the hotel until July 31. Sip it knowing each glass funds Ahora Donde, an association offering shelter and fresh starts to LGBTQ+ youth rejected by their families. Every pour is solidarity; every taste, a reminder that Pride is action as much as celebration.

The pinnacle of the festivities lands on June 29 with Veraz’s first-ever PRIDE BRUNCH. Expect a mid-afternoon dreamscape where Pitita Queen, winner of Drag Race España, storms the brunch floor with theatrical force and unapologetic glamour. Soundtracking the vibe is queer icon Loli Zazou, sending beats spiralling through the room as cava, bottomless mimosas, and locally sourced brunch staples flow: think smoked salmon bagels, Iberian ham potatoes, caramelised croissants, and avocado toast crowned with organic eggs.

The opening of Humberto Cruz’s mural installation drew an eclectic, fashion-forward crowd—exactly what you’d expect from a Barcelona EDITION Pride celebration. Among the guests were designer Victor von Schwarz, electronic music visionary Cora Novoa, Rubearth’s creative force Gabriel Nogueiras, Marta Coca (director of 080 Barcelona Fashion), illustrator Sergio Dosal, Domingo Domínguez of Dominnico, and Eduardo García, director of Fucking Young! magazine. Each presence embodied the fearless creativity and queer-forward spirit that the evening championed.

Pride is more than a rainbow poster or token hashtag. The Barcelona EDITION’s curation of Cruz’s mural, its cocktail fundraiser, and a drag brunch that champions local queer talent proves its celebration is rooted in visibility, creativity, and giving back to the community that fuels its style.
