SIDESTEP Teams Up with Six Spanish Creatives as it Lands in Spain
by Anna Barr

It might seem like a crazy time to be opening up a store, but that hasn’t stopped the sneaker retailer from opening their first stores in Madrid and Barcelona. Already a hit on the fashion and creative scene in Germany and the Netherlands with a selection of brands such as Arkk Copenhagen, Nike, New Balance, Asics, Superga and adidas., SIDESTEP will be an exciting new addition in the city center’s Calle del Carmen and in the Plenilunio shopping center. The chain also arrives in Barcelona with two shops, one very centrally located in Plaza Catalunya and the other in the Gran Via 2 center.
SIDESTEP has teamed up with Fucking Young! and six creators from both Madrid and Barcelona to celebrate the creative scene of its new homes in Spain: DJ Claudia Fersanch aka Toccororo, stylist Carla Cristallini and photographer Gerard Estadella in Madrid and graphic designer and content creator Anna Ponsa, illustrator Sergio Dosal, actor and model Yung Tarki in Barcelona.

“I have a true passion for sneakers, I would almost say an obsession. I keep a collection of more than 400 pairs. When they asked me to be part of SIDESTEP’s arrival in Spain, I had no doubts. The arrival of SIDESTEP to Spain only confirms that sneakers go beyond street culture and today they are more associated than ever with fashion.” – Explained Gerard Estadella.
Scandinavian design and minimalism are behind the new store concept. Next to the wooden sneaker displays, SIDESTEP has also created designated spaces for trend corners and storytelling, making a little gallery space for artists to showcase their work and give more than a shopping experience.
