PHIPPS Fall/Winter 2023
by Adriano Batista
PHIPPS presents its Fall/Winter 2023 collection, marking a transformative chapter in the brand’s journey. This season holds profound significance as it not only represents the brand’s first collection from its new home base in vibrant Los Angeles but also symbolizes its redefinition as a trailblazing American fashion brand.
The move to Los Angeles has sparked a newfound clarity and vision for PHIPPS, infusing its identity with dynamic energy and cultural diversity. Embracing the city’s unyielding spirit, they have embarked on a quest to redefine the essence of being an American brand. Committed to innovation and impeccable craftsmanship, PHIPPS has emerged as a true icon in the American fashion landscape.
The FW23 collection reflects this renewed vision and transformed identity. Drawing inspiration from their rugged workwear heritage, they delve into the realms of weird Americana and countercultural outsiders, elements that have been integral to their identity from the start. Iconic images from renowned artists such as Richard Avedon and the visionary works of various creatives have inspired their contemporary take on the American West, blending audacious uniqueness with a familiar sense of American spirit.
Celebrating their journey of redefinition, the FW23 collection showcases the evolution of PHIPPS across their distinctive divisions. Core essentials like rib tanks and unisex denim sets intertwine with standout styles from their LAB division, paying homage to their roots. Incorporating highlights from their Gold Label vintage collection adds to the meticulously curated silhouettes, bridging the past, present, and future of PHIPPS.
This season also marks the exciting introduction of new categories like denim, underwear, and their empowering venture into womenswear. With an unwavering commitment to US-based manufacturing and sustainable practices, they embrace progressive steps forward.
The collaboration with Woolrich thrives, featuring limited edition items crafted from their renowned deadstock materials. This partnership infuses the collection with heritage and contemporary design elements, showcasing their shared passion for craftsmanship and innovation.
The grand unveiling of the FW23 collection took place at the breathtaking Big Sky Ranch in Simi Valley, California. An iconic Movie Ranch with a rich history, this setting adds an extraordinary touch of storytelling to the collection.
