OTW by Vans: A New Dimension of Skate Culture
by Adriano Batista
Vans has launched a new line of products and experiences that celebrate skateboarding as a force of creative disruption. OTW by Vans is a supreme expression of the brand’s vision and values, inspired by the most innovative influences of skateboarding, art, design, music and entertainment.
OTW by Vans made its debut in June 2023 with a skate installation on the Seine during Paris Men’s Fashion Week, showcasing the brand’s unique approach to product and experience design. The installation featured a custom-built skate ramp, a live DJ set, and a preview of the OTW by Vans collection.
The campaign for the first season of OTW by Vans is photographed by Jack Bridgland, and features six ambassadors who embody the brand’s vision and draw on the world of skateboarding to form their cultural narratives. They are: Efron Danzig, Eyedress, Hooz, Nati, Rowan Zorilla, and Vegyn.
The lookbook features a wide range of products from the main OTW line, which will launch throughout 2024. Some of the highlights include the Vibram Half Cab Reissue 33, the first-ever reissue of skateboarding’s most iconic sneaker; the Vans Half Cab, with a specialized vulcanized-based Vibram sole, available in three suede/mesh colorways; the Patchwork Drill Chore Coat and Patchwork Drill Pants, which explore future craftsmanship in Vans clothing design, featuring a patchwork of different fabrics and patterns, inspired by the DIY culture of skateboarding.
