Onitsuka Tiger Fall/Winter 2025
by Gabriel Córdoba Acosta
13.662,1 km separate Tokyo and Milan, and although it is hard to believe, they are closely connected. Proof of this is Onitsuka Tiger, the fashion brand founded in Japan but creatively directed by the Italian designer Andrea Pompilio, which presents its collections in the Milan Fashion Week calendar.
As for the Fall/Winter 2025 collection, its theme is urban duality, treated from a more Japanese culture-oriented point of view, where tradition and modernity collide. If fashion is the subject, some of the most important neighbourhoods there are Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Harajuku, so of course they had to be present in Pompilio’s inspiration. In such districts, as Andrea imagines, you would see guys wearing Onitsuka looks with a slim silhouette and a fusion of different styles, ranging from contemporary British and Western to romantic and punk.
Representing the aforementioned styles are the various suits in double cashmere or micro houndstooth, thus making up a large sartorial offer; the eco-leather coats, spiked bags and black punk-style lace-up and studded sneakers, with whom to defend oneself against any opponent; knitwear in the style of pullovers and cardigans – notably the Japanese wool and polyester cropped jackets embroidered with micro baguettes in denim-inspired motifs; and the fleece jackets with zips, inspired by gorpcore in double cashmere.
Having said all this, do you see the connection between Japan and Italy? Just imagining it makes us want to go there and dress up like one of them.
