Oliver Spencer FW17 Backstage!
by Coco Mell

In a season where the soundtracks thus far have been somewhat stifled with an eerie dull tone, it was refreshing to embrace a soundtrack full of nostalgic of 80’s classic pop hits remixed to the modern day man at Oliver Spencer‘s showcase. There was a varied casting choice with models of a wide age range, which played a key role in giving this collection its sartorial, cool edge.
The colour palette was earthly and masculine, full of autumnal tones. Forrest green and burnt orange formulated on soft velvet, corduroy and wool with contrasting leathers. These were amplified by opposing blends of blush pink, grey and powder blue.
Oliver Spencer has not only stayed true to his signature staple of cropped trousers but he added a series of strong new elements in this collection, with a versatile human engineered oversized parka coat that you kind of wish could metamorphosis like Optimus Prime from a scene out of the Transformers.
Laying and accessorising were key this season featuring shearling textured hats and stylish printed umbrellas along with new roll neck jumpers, stacked sole plimsoles and long line jackets to look dapper while fighting off that typical British weather.
