Nike x Comme des Garçons Air Max Sunder
by Adriano Batista

Comme des Garçons announced the launch of its latest collaborative sneaker with Nike, the Air Max Sunder, which debuted in Tokyo in July 2021 during the Comme des Garçons Homme Plus SS22 show themed ‘The Existence of Flowers’.
First introduced in 1999, the Air Max Sunder is one of Nike’s most unique cross-training sneakers. With no updates having been made to the shoe since its inception, Comme des Garcons Homme Plus made a point to customize the exterior shroud to feature premium neoprene and nubuck in addition to offering three new colorways (Triple White, Triple Black, and White/Black). CDG’s modern re-design shows a simplified upper while maintaining the original fit that comes with the sneaker’s unique combination of zipper and lace-up.
In partnership with photographer Ari Marcopoulos and Creative Directors Ronnie Cooke Newhouse and Karl Bolander, the Nike x Comme des Garçons Air Max Sunder is transported to the streets of New York. Captured on film in Brooklyn, New York, the futuristic silhouette receives the same raw documentation the photographer is best known for capturing artists, skateboarders, and musicians.
Available in size EU 37,5-47,5 for men and women, the Nike x Comme des Garçons Air Max Sunder retails for 315€ and launches exclusively at all Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market stores globally (with the exception of Japan) as well as DSM E-SHOPs, followed shortly thereafter by all Comme des Garçons’s best wholesale clients.
