Montell Fish returns with a pulse-quickening new single, “Who Did You Touch?”. The track channels the electric energy of a Parisian nightclub, with Fish’s falsetto soaring to new heights. His voice captures raw jealousy and vulnerability as he repeatedly asks the haunting question posed by the title. The refrain, “Why did you think I won’t figure out?” is delivered with a blend of resignation and pain, showcasing Fish’s signature emotive lyricism.
This release follows his March EP, ‘Intercession Before Charlotte’ entirely self-produced, written, and performed. Fish’s artistry reached a pinnacle in 2022 with “JAMIE,” an album featuring the gold-certified single “Hotel.” With over a billion streams globally, “JAMIE” garnered critical acclaim and placed Fish in the spotlight with appearances on Jimmy Fallon and features in Highsnobiety, The New York Times, and Nylon. The album peaked at number 19 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and won the 2023 Libera Award for Best Spiritual Album.
Recently, Fish has delved into the intersection of psychology and theology in his music, launching a series of artist interviews. The first episodes feature conversations with Daniel Caesar and Lil Yachty, hinting at the themes of his forthcoming album ‘Charlotte’
For those tracking Fish’s evolution, “Who Did You Touch?” is a poignant preview of what’s to come, combining his hauntingly beautiful vocal delivery with deeply personal storytelling.
