Matthieu Blazy steps down as Creative Director of Bottega Veneta and is succeeded by Louis Trotter
by Gabriel Córdoba Acosta
Can we say that this is the most hectic week of the year, as far as fashion news is concerned? Yes, we can, and it’s only fair that we do because a day after John Galliano‘s departure from Maison Margiela was announced and his detractors cried foul, Matthieu Blazy has done the same but with Bottega Veneta. What’s going on in the industry? That is the question we ask ourselves every day, but unfortunately, it has still been impossible to get any answer.

Regardless, the rumor that we have been hearing for some time now has once again become a reality, and as of today we will no longer be able to enjoy the mastery, avant-garde, and renewed classicism that the designer was developing at the Italian fashion house. This sad news, as has become customary, was shared on Matthieu’s official profile, with an image of a hand holding a bouquet accompanied by a text that said: “To the wonderful Bottega teams, thank you for the great adventure.”
The Blazy era is over, but automatically, a new one begins, and the protagonist of it will be Louise Trotter, since minutes after the departure was made official, it has been announced the arrival of the British designer, who will join the firm at the end of January 2025 and will be in charge of all its lines.

Leo Regone, CEO of Bottega Veneta, commented on the new appointment: “I am pleased to welcome Louise as our new Creative Director. Her aesthetic seamlessly combines exquisite design with sublime craft and her commitment to cultural advocacy aligns beautifully with our brand vision. Through her sophisticated lens, Bottega Veneta will continue to celebrate its heritage while preserving modern relevance. I also want to express my profound appreciation for Matthieu, who has been an extraordinary partner in infusing our brand with desirability, emotional resonance, and intellectual identity.”
While Louise Trotter added: “I am deeply honored to join Bottega Veneta as Creative Director. The House’s storied legacy of artistry and innovation is truly inspiring, and I am excited to contribute to its future and celebrate its timeless vision.”
From here, we congratulate Louise Trotter on her appointment and wish Matthieu Blazy’s legacy at Bottega Veneta a long life.
