Ludovic de Saint Sernin Returns to Fire Island: A Queer Ode in Swimwear

This summer, Ludovic de Saint Sernin revisits Fire Island, the storied queer sanctuary off New York’s coast, to relaunch its swim line with a campaign steeped in erotic freedom and community reverence. Shot by Stuart Winecoff at 231 Bay Walk, the former home of late Fire Island icon Gil Neary, the images pulse with sweat-slicked intimacy: fingers tugging at swim thongs, longing glances over poolside railings, bodies draped in sunlight like living art.
The collection itself is a study in sensual minimalism. The signature Eyelet Brief and Thong return, refined, alongside a new Swim Short studded with the brand’s signature grommet detailing. But the context is what lingers. Fire Island Pines is where de Saint Sernin shot its very first campaign, for its debut underwear line, years ago. Now, the homecoming underscores the brand’s threaded history with queer spaces, following its FW24 collaboration with The Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation.
This time, the commitment goes beyond imagery. A summer-long pop-up at the Visitors Center, run by the Queer Culture Arts Foundation (QCAF), will house the swimwear exclusively, alongside curated works by queer artists.
