Ib Kamara Becomes The New Art And Image Director Of Off-white
by Gabriel Córdoba Acosta
Saul Nash, Filippo Grazioli, Maximilian Davis… All of them with Ibrahim Kamara (better known as IB KAMARA) make up the prestigious group of fashion personalities of 2022, as so far this year, the professionals we have just mentioned have become protagonists thanks to their new positions.
Kamara has been the latest to join this exclusive group, as we learned a couple of days ago, since through an Instagram post, the brand founded by the late and always remembered Virgil Abloh, Off-White, announced that Ibrahim would become part of it and would occupy the position of art and image director: “Ibrahim’s relationship with Virgil and Off-White, born and nurtured through DM messages on Instagram, has blossomed both personally and professionally over the past three years creating a strong bond based on mutual respect and shared values. In the new role, he will further develop his influence and vision for the brand’s collections, image and content.”
Shortly after the news broke, I.K. posted a post on his Instagram profile echoing the news, captioning it with the following words: “Virgil will be forever with us. With me. He changed the world and left an indelible mark on all who encountered him and beyond. Generous with his time, his mind and his creativity, he saw everyone and created with all human beings in mind. I am honoured to remain connected to Off-White as its art and image director and to be part of the team that will tell the rest of the story that Virgil began to write for all of us.”
What direction will Off-White take now, and what changes will Ibrahim make? Whatever it is and whatever happens, his friend Virgil Abloh is sure to agree with him and the decisions he makes.
