Gucci Fall/Winter 2016

Noting goes missing, the dust of time is a diaphragm that protects things, conceals them until someone brings back their original splendour. Reenactment is what Michele poetically did with his Gucci’s FW16 collection. It was like a mystical journey: a red light, a noisy walk and Sakamoto’s consuming The Revenant main theme. Michele steals fragments of emotions and sensations from distant memories- and places- and translates them into something masterfully modern and cohesive with his trailblazing take on Gucci.
Embroideries and old-fashioned patterns are a constant with Michele as well as mix and match. Look at the 70’s three-dimensional yellow-blue pattern outfit with floral embroidery and striped top with Schultz’ Snoopy or the cardi with furry collar and teddy bears. The kangaroo fur-lining loafers- people around the world are freak out over them!- are the hot stuff along with super studded lace-ups and rubber-soled trainers. Jazzy wool hats remind me of qurpu– Peruvian Highlands traditional hats- while Holmes’ deerstalkers have an unconventional style with some pom poms. With this collection Alessandro Michele’s been able- with his incredible edge- to turn the old dust into brilliant polish.
