Good Man Brand Launches Its First Circular Sneaker: The Halo
by Adriano Batista
Good Man Brand, the menswear and footwear label founded by Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson, has unveiled its most sustainable sneaker yet—The Halo. Designed to merge style with eco-conscious innovation, the sneaker introduces a fully biodegradable sole developed in partnership with Balena, a leader in compostable and recyclable materials. This marks the first time Balena’s cutting-edge BioCir® Flex technology has been used in men’s footwear, setting a new standard for sustainable sneakers.
Available in black and white, the Halo is a modern take on the classic court shoe, handcrafted in Europe with vegan leather alternatives that prioritize durability without animal products. The black version features GrapeSkin® leather, made from 42% repurposed grape skins, stalks, and seeds, while the white model uses a bio-based vegan leather.
The real breakthrough lies in the sole. Unlike traditional rubber or plastic, Balena’s BioCir® Flex is fully compostable and recyclable, offering the same flexibility and shock absorption as conventional materials—but without the environmental toll. Even the laces are made from OEKO-TEX® certified cotton, ensuring no harmful chemicals are used.
“Sustainability is more than a buzzword—it’s a responsibility,” says Therese Hayes, CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer of Good Man Brand. “The Halo proves that fashion-forward design and sustainability can go hand in hand.”
To close the loop, Good Man Brand is developing a take-back program, set to launch in Spring 2025, allowing worn sneakers to be recycled or composted rather than ending up in landfills.
