Études SS22 Lookbook
by Adriano Batista
Meditating on a decade of creation, the Études Spring/Summer 2022 collection is the first chapter of a binary exercise in introspection. Across the SS22 and FW22-23 collections, a deep exploration of the extensive research and development of the signature Études silhouette results in a new expression of the brand’s identity: one imbued with a collective notion of identity, freedom, heightened consciousness and artistic expression. Constructed in part through an exhaustive study of the archive, existing patterns, graphics and treatments are cast in a new light – honoring the emergence of the relaxed, subversive archetypes of Études’ decidedly postmodern vocabulary.
The collection lookbook by Arnaud Lajeunie trace the roots of Études founders Aurélien Arbet, Jérémie Egry and José Lamali back to the French countryside, in particular to the alpine hinterland of Grenoble, France. A disjointed narrative follows a collective of local youths from the city limits into the Vercors Massif, showcasing the collection in a series of moving tableaux featuring a cast of Études characters the protagonists meet along the way.
