Dr. Martens and Rick Owens push the boundaries of subversive style with their new 14XX collection
by Adriano Batista

Dr. Martens and Rick Owens have teamed up once again to deliver a collaboration that showcases the best of both brands. The new 14XX collection features designs from Dr. Martens’ new experimental category, which aims to challenge the conventions of footwear with bold and innovative shapes.
The collab builds on the previous partnership between the two brands, which started in 2021 and explored the sculptural possibilities of Dr. Martens boots with Rick Owens’ signature laces and architectural flair.

“I love that our collaboration serves to celebrate the pure and fierce desire like that of Sissy Misfit, which makes techno vibrate with trans power. Dr Martens always represented inspiring subculture to me and I like to honor that tradition,” Rick Owens said.

The new collection features the 1460 DMXL Megalace boot, which combines the iconic 1460 silhouette with the new DMXL sole, which debuted in late 2023. The DMXL sole is an exaggerated version of the classic Dr. Martens construction, made from a lightweight EVA composite material with durable PVC capsules. The sole adds height and drama to the boot, which is also enhanced by the enlarged tongue and the flexible Lunar leather upper. The boot is fastened with Rick Owens’ iconic lace design and silver hardware, and features the Dr. Martens logo on the heel loop and the yellow stitching on the sole.

The Dr. Martens x Rick Owens 14XX collection will be available on February 8, 2024 at drmartens.com, rickowens.eu and select retailers.
