Camper’s 50th Anniversary: A Homage to Mallorca in The Walking Society
by Adriano Batista
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Camper has released a special hardcover edition of its Mediterranean magazine, The Walking Society. This edition returns to Camper’s roots, focusing on Mallorca, the brand’s home island. British photographer Martin Parr brings his signature colorful and humorous style to the project, capturing the essence of Mallorca and its people. From the island’s beaches to the Tramuntana mountains, the magazine highlights the cool art scene and creative energy that define Mallorca.
Issue 18 of The Walking Society includes conversations with famous figures connected to the island, such as Mallorcan artist Rossy de Palma and Finnish designer Achilles Ion Gabriel, who serves as Camper’s creative director.
The original Walking Society magazine series launched in 2001 and ran for four years, producing eight issues. After a pause, the concept was revived in 2020 to explore other Mediterranean islands, including Krk, Ibiza, Menorca, and Crete. This special anniversary edition not only celebrates Camper’s 50-year journey but also pays tribute to Mallorca, the place where it all began.
