Once again this year, Calvin Klein has shown its unconditional support for the LGBTQIA+ community through its latest campaign, “This is Love“, which celebrates the family we choose within the LGBTQIA+ community: friends, partners, lovers, neighbors, allies, and more.

The campaign, photographed by John Edmonds in a nostalgic photo album style, features LGBTQIA+ pioneers, artists and advocates, including: filmmaker John Waters; actresses/actors Mink Stole, Sasha Lane and Sergio Lane, Nic Ashe and Justice Smith; musician Snail Mail and her crew, legendary dance house House of Xtravaganza; hairstylist Holli Smith and her fiancé Pony and Afro-futuristic art collective TRIBE Collective.

But in addition to all of these, three employees of The Trevor Project, the largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, transgender, queer and gender-questioning young people, sponsored by Calvin Klein, are also present. For those who don’t yet know what the organization is about, it offers 24/7 phone, text and chat support, suicide prevention programmes and other resources for LGBTQIA+ youth, their families, educators and supporters.

All of them have posed in the campaign with their loved ones in moments of connection and private moments of intimacy wearing garments from the accompanying “This is Love” collection, comprised primarily of basic clothing, underwear and sportswear, inspired by the colors of the Pride flag.

Each piece includes a woven label that reveals what each color of the flag represents: black for beauty, brown for power, pink for sex, orange for healing, yellow for sunshine, cinnamon for harmony, white for non-binary gender, turquoise for magic and blue for serenity.

In the case of the underwear, it includes bands and fabrics with combinations of these colors in a nod to the intersectionality that exists across the spectrum of LGBTQIA+ sexualities, gender identities and sexual characteristics.

Last but not least, Calvin Klein has pledged this year to donate $400,000 in support of NGOs fighting for LGBTQIA+ equity, advocacy and justice and to continue to support ILGA World’s initiatives as the international voice of LGBTQIA+ networks and communities and movements committed to shaping a world where everyone can live safely, equally and freely.
