HUMBE on his way to the Louis Vuitton Show
by Anna Barr

Singer-songwriter HUMBE is Mexico’s breakout pop star, leading us into a new era of sentimental pop. With nominations for the Grammy and Latin Grammy, he is one of the favorites in the category of Indie music. Photographer Krista Garzaa captures HUMBE on his way to the Louis Vuitton Show. He was the first singer from Mexico attending Louis Vuitton with Pharrell as a creative director. We caught up for a quick chat to discover more about the person behind the music and clothes, but it’s Paris Fashion Week, so we are keeping to front row small talk just for now.
You are in town for the Louis Vuitton show. What’s the first thing you want to eat when you land in Paris?
Honestly? A warm croissant and an espresso. Super simple, but something about it hits different in Paris.
I don’t know how you eat a croissant, but the secret is to tear it to avoid flakes! What sort of mood did you want to convey with your outfit to the LV runway show?
I wanted to wear one of my favorite pieces from Pharrell’s collection—something that felt bold but simple. The mood was appreciation, honestly. A way to say, “this inspired me.”

You are a successful musician. When and how did your fascination with fashion begin?
Music and fashion have always felt connected to me. I think I started really noticing style when I realized how much a look can change the way a song feels live.
Did you have a style icon growing up?
Not really one in particular. I picked little things from everywhere—movies, artists, even my family. I like mixing influences.

Do you have a stylist when you tour? Did you get any good styling tips?
Yeah, I do! The best advice I got was: if you’re not comfortable, it’ll show. Wear the outfit—don’t let it wear you.
If you could live in any decade, what would it be?
Probably the ‘90s. The energy, the music, the style—it all felt raw and real in a way that still resonates with me.
Any fashion trends you once sported that you regret?
Skinny jeans. Way too skinny. I just hope the photos never resurface.
Get ready, because skinny jeans will be making a comeback! Let’s have some fun, how scorpion are you?
Oh, full Scorpio. Deep-feeler, loyal, intense… and yeah, I overthink texts for sure.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?
“Bohemian Rhapsody,” without a doubt. It’s chaotic, emotional, and everyone ends up singing along—can’t go wrong with that.
If you can’t sing like me, trust me, it can go wrong and then you are stuck for another five minutes. Do you listen to your own music?
I do. I write to process what I feel, so sometimes listening back helps me understand things I didn’t even notice when I wrote them.
