Louis Vuitton’s “The Louis” Sets Sail in Shanghai

Louis Vuitton has always been about journeys, both literal and imaginative. Now, with The Louis, its new Shanghai space, the French maison brings that spirit to life in a way that feels both nostalgic and forward-thinking. Part boutique, part café, part gallery, this ship-shaped structure is an experience, carefully crafted to reflect Vuitton’s legacy while anchoring itself in Shanghai’s identity as the “Gateway to the East.”
The building itself is a statement. Inspired by the brand’s 19th-century roots crafting trunks for transoceanic travel, The Louis stands out in Shanghai’s bustling business district with its sleek, nautical design. From the metallic Monogram on its prow to the layered upper decks that evoke stacked vintage trunks, every detail nods to Vuitton’s history of adventure. This a living space where visitors can shop, sip, and explore.
Inside, Le Café Louis Vuitton offers a menu that balances casual elegance with indulgence, while the Visionary Journeys exhibition takes guests on a curated trip through the brand’s craftsmanship and creativity.
