Some artists don’t just play Primavera Sound but help define it. This year, Beach House, Kim Deal, Spiritualized, Caribou, Stereolab, and Amaia joined the growing list of recipients for the festival’s Can’t Do Without You Award, a recognition reserved for those who have shaped Primavera’s identity over the years.

Now in its fourth year, the award celebrates musicians whose influence runs deeper than a single performance. Beach House accepted it on their sixth visit to the festival, while Kim Deal (Pixies co-founder and Breeders leader) was honored as she promoted her debut solo album. Spiritualized, a fixture since Primavera’s early days in Poble Espanyol, returned once again. Caribou, whose music inspired the award’s name, brought his dance-ready energy back to the stage. Stereolab, fresh off their first album in 15 years, and Amaia, whose career took off after her 2018 Primavera debut, rounded out this year’s honorees.

They now stand alongside past winners like PJ Harvey, Pavement, and Yo La Tengo, artists who aren’t just part of a hall of fame, but part of Primavera Sound’s DNA.
