To arrange a show at 9:30 am should be forbidden! I’m slouchy on my reserved seat with collapsing eyelids and the taste of a peppermint toothpaste still in my mouth- well, if I know myself a bit, I think I have some remains of the aforementioned toothpaste going from lips to dimples! But, on one hand it’s a show too early in the morning- and that’s the bad thing!-, on the other hand, it’s Christian Pellizzari and that’s rather reassuring.
Mister Pellizzari takes us on a trip from his cherished Venezia to Cali’s Venice Beach. The gondolier-inspired jackets are cut into flowery brocades and silk jacquard in a palette ranging from natural colours to black, white and gold. Hibiscus prints contrast with geometric designs that get three-dimensional. On this occasion women’s resort came along with menswear but everything was so balanced that the two seemed one. It’s not easy to concertina the splendour of one of the most graceful, pompous and historical city in the whole world- pardon my nationalism!- and the young and, you know, lustful West Coast into each other but, Christian worked his strengths to the hilt and delivered a collection that did stir up much excitement.
