MEI KAWA Spring/Summer 2015 Lookbook
by Adriano Batista

This summer MEI KAWA came up with a completely different tone than before but with a collection that is still very typical of the brand. The designer unfolds the concept: the “less in sometimes more”, dynamism and the static notions are only interpretable together. The clear shapes and lines remind us of the energies of the inspiring ‘60s, the melodies of those times or the vintage football player’s uniforms. The unisex collection takes us right into the world of sports while the patterns based on the jerseys give a new meaning to the decade’s sport-fashion features in a fresh and free spirit.
In this year’s summer debut MEI KAWA has new pieces like the elastic waist, wide stem shorts; elastic bottom linen trousers or even a Harrington jacket taken on a new level. The small, tricky details cleverly mix features of sporty and casual clothing. Occasionally the delicate colours create harmony with a striking one. The intense orange colour breaks the calm combination of the navy blue, olive green, grey shades, black and white colours. The collection merges a special moment, mood and atmosphere. Creates a harmony compared to what’s hidden in one movement of a football player, one chord of Elvis or the shockingly powerful voice of the insolently young King Krule.
