1017 ALYX 9SM x Nike Air Force 1 Low: A Luxurious Take on a Classic
by Adriano Batista
The Nike Air Force 1 is more than just a sneaker. It is a cultural icon! Since its debut in 1982, the Air Force 1 has been the first basketball shoe to feature Nike Air technology, and has become a staple of street style with its timeless silhouette and versatile design.

Now, the Air Force 1 gets a new twist with the collaboration of 1017 ALYX 9SM, the label of Matthew M. Williams. Williams has previously released a series of high-top Air Force 1s in eight colorways for the 1017-ALYX-9SM NIKE AF1 HIGH series, which debuted at the 1017-ALYX-9SM runway show at Paris Fashion Week in January 2020.
For the 1017 ALYX 9SM x Nike Air Force 1 Low, Williams opts for a more understated and refined approach, using ultra-premium sail leather for the entire upper, from the toebox to the quarters and collar liner. The shoe features signature details from 1017 ALYX 9SM, such as the lighter cap accents and the 1017 ALYX 9SM logo on the lateral heel. The lace locks also display the brand’s name, with “1017” on the right foot and “9SM” on the left foot. The shoe is completed by a tonal black or white midsole and outsole, adding a touch of contrast and simplicity.
The beauty of this Air Force 1 lies in its attention to detail and quality. While staying true to the roots of the original, the 1017 ALYX 9SM edition elevates the design with premium tumbled leather, gleaming metal eyelets and lace dubraes, and co-branded details that highlight the powerful pairing of two influential brands.
