Barrett Walter is a Los Angeles based menswear brand built on evolving the definition of masculinity in fashion through eccentric, yet approachable, luxury pieces. Collectively, it represents the intersection of specialty and staple. With an inherently whimsical take on classically tailored silhouettes, novel texture is infused and unconventional construction, explored.
Barrett Walter Hutchinson is a Louisiana native, and first developed his womenswear background in New York City before moving to Los Angeles in 2012. While completing stints at Diane von Furstenberg, Catherine Malandrino, and red carpet brand Lorena Sarbu, his deep appreciation for embellishment and thoughtful detail was solidified. Translating these influences into menswear with fluidity and expertise, Hutchinson launched his namesake label in 2016.
The brand reveres clothing as an investment in both the product itself and local community, proudly being made in Los Angeles.
“Essentials is the perfect blend of product and culture from a brand like Converse. Focussed around classic sportswear items, redefined for streetwear….it mirrors the story of Converse as a brand, born in sport, raised by the streets.”
For the Fall/Winter 2017 collection, Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki, co-founders and artistic directors of Maison Kitsuné, drew their inspiration from American pop culture and the aesthetic and creative energie of New York born, Paris based, artist William Klein.
