Heron Preston, New York-based designer and founder of an eponymous brand, has no illusions about his entry point to Nike. “Growing up, I was always a sneakerhead,” he says. “That was the only kind of Nike product I was really engaged with — sneakers, sneakers, sneakers.”
Fast forward to Preston’s early twenties, he’s working at Nike and his eyes are open to the brand’s breadth of output. With the Nike HP Tailwind, Preston’s grabbed an opportunity to share his discovery more broadly.
“Nike is an innovation company; there are so many innovations that I don’t think the majority of my community is aware of,” Preston says. “I really wanted to laser-focus on something different beyond sneakers. So that’s why I decided to choose to create these Tailwind sunglasses with Nike as my first collab.”
Marking the brand’s evolution to an established house in the Parisian fashion landscape, FW21 is Y/PROJECT’s largest, most ambitious collection to date.
The collection explores the aesthetics of real experiences close to designer Archie Alled-Martinez revisiting the foundations of the brand and recalling the key terms that shape its spirit: daringness, comfort, and a rather cheeky elegance.
