Christopher Raeburn returns to Mongolia for his inspirations this season with an assortment of outerwear and knitted layers to protect against the harsh, bleak winter climate.
His trademark ‘REMADE’ ideology is inevitably recurring for AW16 where military materials including raindrop camouflage covers and protective rubber suits are reworked into classic Raeburn outerwear in the form of anoraks, parkas and some more wearable tailoring.
“Wearable” is key to this season’s collection for Raeburn. As the brand matures, his signature use of an animal mascot becomes subtler, with AW16’s snow leopard prints making a brief appearance across knitwear and jersey pieces. Backpacks and holdalls came in more understated designs than his usual animal bags. This season texture played a big part, with mixtures of modern textiles and leather or rough shearling.
Raeburn’s collaboration with Clarks shoes continues with a selection of contemporary boots. Some pairs have almost futuristic, oversized straps in innovative materials, while others are soft grey suede with intricate lacing. A really interesting and relevant collaboration for the season.
