Young Finnish Designers Showcase Work at Amos Rex During Fashion in Helsinki
by Adriano Batista
Over fifty emerging Finnish designers presented their collections at the Amos Rex SS25 fashion show, held in the courtyard of Helsinki’s Amos Rex museum on May 23rd. The event formed part of Fashion in Helsinki, which highlights new names and creative directions in Finnish fashion.
Minttu Vesala, who curated the selection, described Finnish fashion as drawing from both necessity and personal expression. “We dress for ourselves, not for others,” she said. The designs reflected this approach, with varied materials and concepts across the different collections. Some worked with structured forms, others with looser silhouettes, demonstrating the range of current Finnish design.
Kieran Long, Director of Amos Rex, noted the museum’s interest in fashion as a form of contemporary creativity. The show allowed the designers’ work to be seen within an artistic setting, with the museum’s architecture providing a distinctive backdrop.
The Amos Rex SS25 presentation offered a view of what Finnish designers are creating now: clothing that responds to their environment while exploring individual ideas. With so many designers involved, the event showed the breadth of talent currently working in Finland’s fashion scene.
