WOOYOUNGMI FW15 Capsule Collection @ MR PORTER
by Adriano Batista

MR PORTER.COM, the award-winning online destination for men’s style, have joined forces with WOOYOUNGMI for a second time to create a new and exclusive 12 piece capsule collection of sportswear and ready to wear. The collection will offer a ‘buy now, wear now’ edit for FW15 and will be available on MR PORTER from November 2015, exclusively.
Building on the urban scene evoked by WOOYOUNGMI FW15 mainline collection the capsule takes inspiration from Jean-Michel Basquiat. The mood of his artistic technique is translated into a luxurious story built around a subdued palette of black, navy and grey. More directly, graphical prints appear on a sweater and tee, layered over this dark base. Cuffed herringbone trousers, a grey wool bomber jacket, grey wool drawstring jogging pants and fine navy knits encapsulate WOOYOUNGMI’s strength at bridging the gap between chic sportswear and tailoring in a unique way. Each piece in the collection is designed to work together, complimented by leather accessories in a refined colour blocking of navy and black. Staying true to the brands artistic design philosophy, the capsule offers relaxed-luxe with a creative point of difference.
“I was inspired by muted scenery of back alley of New York City. Precisely Jean-Michel Basquiat and his graffiti works. Collection encapsulates Basquiat’s mood and tone of painting. Scribbles have become simplified and melted into WOOYOUGNMI’s relaxed luxury tailoring. I wanted Collection to be complete wardrobe for Basquiat”, says Woo youngmi, Creative Director WOOYOUNGMI
“We’re thrilled to be collaborating with the team at WOOYOUNGMI again on second capsule collection, exclusive to MR PORTER and our global audience. As always, the design elevates sportswear with tailoring elements, creating a versatile capsule that inspires casual basics in a refined, every day way,” says Sam Lobban, Buying Manager for MR PORTER
