Spanish-Nigerian designer Wekaforé Jibril has opened his first standalone boutique in Barcelona, marking a significant moment as the first Black designer to launch a flagship store in Spain. Located in one of Barcelona’s most vibrant neighborhoods (Sant Bertran 14) the store reflects Wekafore’s Afro-futurist vision, blending clothing displays with a focus on Black identity and creativity.

Inside, visitors will find a beauty and hairdressing booth dedicated to Afro-centric grooming traditions, run by local talent. There’s also a DJ and music booth that hosts live performances and events centered on sounds from the African diaspora.

Wekaforé Jibril describes the store as a cultural embassy rather than just a shopping destination. He explains that bringing this space to Barcelona creates room for Black artistic expression and luxury in a place where it hasn’t existed before. The store will also feature rotating exhibitions, performances, and pop-ups, reinforcing its role as a gathering place for alternative culture in Spain.
