Up [øpp] // New Talents Showcase of Emerging Norwegian Designers
by Adriano Batista
Supporting emerging designers from Norway, Up [øpp] is once again welcoming you to an innovative showcase where a selection of the best newly established Norwegian designers will show their work. “New Talents” showcase will take place at DogA, the Norwegian Center for Design and Architecture in Oslo, Norway, on Monday 10 February 2014, at 5pm-7pm.
Having produced two successful fashion shows in 2013, Up is still developing their concept as an independent fashion platform, aiming to lift and showcase new, exciting and talented Norwegian designers. This season, Up is collaborating with the interesting concept store and showroom F5 Concept Store, which since May 2013 has been working with, and nurtured emerging Norwegian designers by offering them a place to develop and sell their designs.
Up and F5 curates a conceptual showcase that will take place during Needlework & Technology; a conference that combines craft and technology, and will be held 10-12 February 2014 by the new network arena Norwegian Fashion Hub. Eleven promising designers have been carefully chosen to show one piece from their collections. The show- case will be placed in the main hall at DogA, surrounded by different elements that will trigger the audience to use their senses to explore the presentation.
After the conference, the showcase will be relocated and expanded into an exhibition and pop-up store POP [øpp] at the F5 Concept Store venue in Øvre Slottsgate 5 in Oslo, including the extensive works of the designers. This event will be open to the public from 14 February until 21 February.
The selected designers who have previously shown their work with UP [øpp] are Janne Aunan, Ingvild Abrahamsen, Pål Luis Sanchez, Elisabeth Stray Pedersen and Anne Karine Thorbjørnsen. From F5 Concept Store the collaborating brands and designers are AoE, Christina Ledang, HAiK, ARCT, GRAA and Karoline Lund.
