Unleashing Creativity: A-COLD-WALL* x Converse AEON ACTIVE CX ‘Dyed Programme
by Adriano Batista
Samuel Ross, the daring force behind A-COLD-WALL*, isn’t afraid to experiment and take risks. This is evident in the brand’s collaboration with Converse, where they explore the world of hand-applied treatments with the AEON ACTIVE CX “Dyed Programme.”
But don’t be fooled – these sneakers are anything but subtle. The laceless design first appeared in a bold, brutalist fashion, followed by a striking “Black/Apple Green” colorway. Now, the new “Solarised,” “Carbon,” “Marine,” and “Redox” colorways draw inspiration from previous Ross collaborations, such as the unforgettable 2019 Nike Zoom Vomero +5 “Solarised.”
Using two dye facilities in Italy and the UK, A-COLD-WALL*’s Industrial Design Team submerges the AEON ACTIVE CX sneakers into vats of dye, resulting in a one-of-a-kind avant-garde silhouette. To honor the limited nature of each pair, ACW provides the sneakers with their own commemorative certificate of authenticity.
Depending on the colorway, the shoes either reveal the original colors underneath a thin, transparent layer of dye or are completely covered in bold color. The mid-panel and asymmetrical tongues bear branding, while the signature lightweight Crater Foam sole unit and exaggerated kick-heel complete the look.
The “Solarised” colorway is exclusively available on farfetch.com and was released on April 19th. The AEON ACTIVE CX “Carbon” drops in May, followed by “Redox” and “Marine” in June, available at select retailers worldwide. Explore these stunning pairs below:
