Tom of Finland Foundation celebrates 40th Anniversary with Art and Culture Festival at Berghain
by Adriano Batista
Berlin is set to come alive with the 40th anniversary of the Tom of Finland Foundation, and Diesel is on board to celebrate. They’ve been teaming up for Pride for three years now, and 2024 is no different. This year, they’re rolling out a capsule collection and shining a spotlight on up-and-coming erotic artists. It’s all about being true to yourself, especially for the LGBTQIA+ community.

The collection features works from artists like Stuart Sandford and Suzanne Shifflett, among others, including Tom of Finland himself. Their art will be featured on 24 unique pieces, each with a quote from the artist. It’s a mix of bold and sensual, just like the foundation’s message.
Durk Dehner, co-founder of the foundation, has been a big part of keeping Tom’s legacy alive. Tom’s art, especially those iconic leather-clad men, broke barriers and spoke to people all over. Now, Berlin’s Halle am Berghain is ready to host a festival that’s all about that legacy.

The festival isn’t just a gallery show; it’s a full-on experience with live performances and a chance to see new talent from the Tom of Finland Emerging Artists Competition. Films from directors like Matt Lambert and Slava Mogutin will also be featured, adding to the mix of queer art on display.

From May 31st to June 2nd, Berlin is the place to be for this celebration of art and freedom. And it’s not stopping there—events are planned in Los Angeles, Tokyo, and London too. Richard Villani, Konstantinos Menelaou, and Eric LeRouge have put it all together. If you’re interested, check out tomoffinland.org for more info and tickets.
