Tobe Nwigwe’s Vision Comes to Life with Reebok
by Adriano Batista
Reebok and Tobe Nwigwe have teamed up to launch the “Reebok x Chukwu” collection, a multi-season collaboration that blends Nwigwe’s creative vision with Reebok’s athletic heritage. The collection, which launches in-store and online on February 21st, explores Nwigwe’s roots and personal style while reimagining classic sport-inspired designs.
The debut collection, titled The Preseason, features reworked versions of Reebok’s iconic silhouettes. The standout piece is The Chukwu OTU, a bold take on the Reebok Preseason Turf Trainer. Nwigwe chose this shoe for its simplicity and iconic status, seeing it as a symbol of hard work and excellence. “It felt like the perfect shoe to launch my own journey,” he said.
The Chukwu OTU combines textile, hairy suede, and nubuck leather to create a unique, layered design that feels both modern and timeless. The name “OTU,” meaning “One” in Igbo, pays tribute to Nwigwe’s Nigerian American heritage. For Nwigwe, the shoe represents more than just design—it’s a celebration of his dual identity and the values that shape him. “It’s the blending of cultures and values that shape who I am,” he explained.
