The third drop of 1017 ALYX 9SM COMPILATION VOL.1 is now available for listening
by Gabriel Córdoba Acosta
The musical project that Matthew M. Williams, founder and creative director of 1017 ALYX 9SM, is carrying out is constantly bringing news. Every week comes with something new, and this, the last week of August, was not going to be any less. That’s why the third drop of the 1017 ALYX 9SM COMPILATION VOL.1, curated by the American and Alamo Records, has been unveiled.

Artist MONTELL FISH is the protagonist of this release, which features a new track called “Minotaur’s Song”. For those who don’t know him yet, the young man is the son of divorce and grew up exploring alternative realities with a secular father and Christian mother. Not only were the beliefs and lifestyles explored with each parent dichotomous, but so was his musical upbringing. Somewhere in liminal space, a teenage Montell began experimenting with different things unknown to him, such as weed, psychedelics, and sex. This experimentation culminated in a depression of which he now says: “I needed something to bring me out of the way I was thinking”.
Once that happened, on New Year’s Day 2015, he decided to break all the “bad habits” he had been carrying, abandoning drinking, smoking, and even sex and replacing them with a returned devotion to the Christianity of his mother and stepfather. With a faith-centred path, Montell began to blend the musical references of his childhood to create “music for God.”
Interesting, isn’t it? At least we think so. If you’ve been itching or curious to listen to the newly unveiled work featured on the third drop of 1017 ALYX 9SM COMPILATION VOL.1, you can do so here: https://www.alyxstudio.com/pages/music
