The Invitation: Lacoste Fall/Winter 2025
by Anna Barr
Lacoste marked their second staging at Roland-Garros’ Philippe Chatrier court during Paris Fashion Week, where Creative Director Pelagia Kolotouros unveiled a fresh take on modern French style. Pierre Niney, Nicolas Furtado, Stromae, Adrien Brody, Eddy de Pretto, and tennis icon Venus Williams were just some of the big hitters sitting along the iconic clay court transported to the 1930s when René Lacoste was surrounded by athletes, performers, industrial tycoons, and fashion icons. All those who influence modern society are invited to sit at the table, just as they were in that time period, blending the inspiration of the brand of athletic elements with a thriving social life.
While Lacoste’s rich history provides a solid base, its classic pieces offer a novel fusion of structure and movement, elegance and usefulness, technology and refinement, and tailoring and flair while reminding us in a time where many people feel disconnected, sports and fashion continue to bring people together.
Reimaginings of the René name as a logo are used to emphasize pieces this season. The founder’s personal collection of tournament medallions, which include images of tennis rackets, the Davis Cup, and the René Lacoste name, served as the inspiration for the jeweled embroidered patches. The 90s-inspired reinterpretation of heritage pieces creates a sophisticated and captivating offering. Noble materials coexist with high-performance textiles. Modernized tracksuits, technical trench coats with a wool membrane, and opulent wool coats are examples of elevated outerwear that add comfort and sophistication. The classic Lacoste polo is reimagined in structured knits and hybrid pieces that emphasize comfort and sportiness.
The Fall/Winter 25 collection, sets a new benchmark for contemporary living and remains loyal to Lacoste’s core values at the nexus of sport and culture, where tradition and the future collide.
