Rombaut’s newest sneakers, Mortal and Flow, evolve from their earlier Nucleo and Alien Barefoot designs, drawing inspiration from martial arts. Both styles embody strength and resilience, but in different ways. Flow emphasizes a barefoot-like connection to the ground, reflecting Rombaut’s focus on balance (both physical and philosophical) rooted in Eastern thought. Mortal takes a technical approach, using sustainable materials like algae-based Bloom Foam and recycled TPU.

The campaign dives into a dreamlike, violent fantasy inspired by Mortal Kombat, where video game excess clashes with real emotion. It plays with the idea of brutality as both love and performance, especially within queer culture. The imagery questions hypermasculine roleplay: Is it a response to internalized shame, or just power and submission in play? Rombaut doesn’t settle the debate. The tension is what matters.
