Roberto Piqueras Fall/Winter 2014
by Eduardo G.

For his fourteenth collection, Roberto Piqueras has drawn inspiration from 5 different worlds but in relation to each other. In the first, as it’s being usual in RP we see the inspiration from the street & this time from the off license shop, full of food product in a white background but lot of information about what you can find on it, in that way he get a new texture & colour from primary.
In the second he made a trompe l’oeil effect with a denim patchwork printed digitally on plush fabric and embroidering his own logo in 2 different sizes. Logo was designed by Covabunga studio in Sabadell, Barcelona taking inspiration of 90’s baroque aesthetic from some different denim brands, really trendy on that time.
In his 3rd world he wants to introduce us in a real teen guy world who’s obsessed with video games, cars and technology. Inside of a tribal world full of 4D dimension, of course he has to use a watermark, with his name on it to protect himself.
Not going too far from the 3rd one, for the 4th he is still surfing via computers, 90’s arcade games as inspiration, windows 95 screensavers and Mario bros scene inside of a empty black and white grid. Tyche, the Greek goddess of fortune and fate, protects this entire kingdom.
Another classic of Roberto Piqueras in his collections it’s Christian religion symbols in a contemporary context, so this time he used the Immaculate Heart of Mary mixed and customized as a Whatsapp emoji icon.
The aesthetic of Piqueras AW1415 collection is derived from various pockets of Montreal outskirts, including Quebec chavs and Internet culture. In this collection encompasses the ubiquitous Roberto Piqueras aesthetic and further explores his approach to extreme unisex garments and his signature androgynous style more better defined as anonymous citizen.
Piqueras manipulates lightweight fabrics such as cotton polyester to produce the oversized silhouettes of the t-shirts, contrasting these with the skin-tight Lycra suit. Piqueras also draws inspiration form Nordic attire in the sheer over protection masks. For AW1415, Piqueras has also produced five bucket hats, real inspiration from bands like Yung Lean & Ecco2k.
