Palomo Spain and PUMA have joined forces to create a collection that explores team sports with a retro twist while championing today’s bold vision of gender fluidity.

The PUMA x Palomo Spain collection draws inspiration from 1970s soccer stars and their glamorous lives off the pitch, linking that decade’s flamboyant approach to fashion with Palomo’s own gender-neutral and romantic designs.

My goal with this collaboration was to bring our most exuberant essence to PUMA, while stepping out of my comfort zone by designing sportswear. That’s what led me to subtly reference Johan Cruyff, the quintessential football icon of the years. 70, which is also the perfect embodiment of the Palomo Spain aesthetic in sports“, says Alejandro G. Palomo, founder and Creative Director of Palomo Spain. “It was wonderful to partner with a company that has the means and engineering to work things in a way that I can’t in my studio and atelier, as that allowed us to approach the collection in a much more technical way at first.

The crossover between craftsmanship and technology is very interesting as it is not too obvious at first glance, however, a highly technical production process was required to create the embroidery and details that are so characteristic of Palomo’s brand in the scale of PUMA. These delicate graphic elements elevate the collection and bring the right balance to a clean, classic silhouette,” said Heiko Desens, Global Creative Director at PUMA.

The PUMA x Palomo Spain collection will be available from September 3 at PUMA.com, at selected PUMA points of sale, at palomospain.com and at select stores around the world.
