PUMA and LAAMS: A Blank Canvas for Creativity
by Adriano Batista
PUMA has teamed up with Lower East Side creative hub LAAMS to create a sneaker that’s more than just footwear – it’s a blank canvas. The PUMA Suede LAAMS ‘Blank Canvas’ is an invitation to express your individuality through art and wear.
This unique collaboration embodies the spirit of DIY culture. The shoe features a removable top layer of canvas, revealing a fuzzy green suede underneath. The idea? Wear the shoe, distress it, customize it – make it your own. It’s a bold statement encouraging wearers to embrace their creative side and turn their sneakers into a personal work of art.
Beyond the innovative design, the PUMA x LAAMS Suede is packed with details that reflect the collaboration’s ethos. Fuzzy laces, silver lace jewels, and a map of the Lower East Side imprinted on the outsole add a playful touch. The shoe even comes with a watercolor paper box that doubles as a canvas for your artistic endeavors. Your creations could even be featured in a commemorative zine and in-store display at LAAMS.
Starting August 3, 2024, you can get your hands on the PUMA x LAAMS Suede at LAAMS and selected PUMA retailers worldwide. But the experience doesn’t stop there. LAAMS is transforming its workshop into a customization studio for the launch, offering on-site creative assistance to help you transform your sneakers into one-of-a-kind masterpieces.
