Prada Frames, now in its fourth year, is a symposium that uses discussion and design to explore big ideas. Organized by Formafantasma, it happens alongside Milan’s Salone del Mobile but focuses on conversation rather than products. This year’s theme, In Transit, looks at infrastructure—not just as roads and railways, but as systems that control how people, goods, and even data move through the world.

The event digs into how mobility, design, and the environment connect. It questions the way digital advances and global shipping networks change our lives. Why can products cross borders so easily, while people face so many barriers? It also examines how infrastructure shapes power—from the internet to supply chains—and the contradictions of a world that’s both hyper-connected and deeply divided.

The setting itself tells a story. Talks will happen on the Arlecchino train, a 1950s design by Gio Ponti and Giulio Minoletti, restored by Fondazione FS Italiane. With its sleek, boat-like exterior and glass-walled lounges, it’s a moving piece of design history. Another venue, the Padiglione Reale at Milan’s Central Station, once hosted royalty—now it’s a place to rethink who gets to move freely, and why. Both spaces turn the event into an experience, blending architecture with big questions about society.

Prada Frames In Transit is free to attend, with registration opening March 31 on prada.com.
