Toronto-based designer brand Mr. Saturday presented their Fall/Winter 2023 collection titled “Dans Les Bains”. Helmed by 28-year-old designer & founder Joey Gollish, Mr. Saturday is a brand rooted in exploring historical events and ephemera, with a special focus on nightlife and history-shifting movements in culture. Mr. Saturday connects stories of the past with what’s happening in the present.
For Fall/Winter 2023, Mr. Saturday explores the history of Les Bains Douches, the legendary Parisian nightclub, and its profound impact during the 1970s & 1980s – a period known as the “Golden Age” of Parisian nightlife and culture. Built in 1885, the Haussman building first played host to a bath (where the club’s name comes from). However, this wasn’t one of Paris’ public baths, but actually a private establishment for gay men at the time. In 1975, the building was converted into the nightclub we know today, Les Bains Douches, a glamorous and elusive underground club that celebrated freedom, sexual liberation, and creative expression.
