MM6 Maison Margiela Spring/Summer 2025
by Gabriel Córdoba Acosta
Bold, sexy, and with a certain carefree touch; that’s how the design team in charge of MM6 Maison Margiela imagines Spring/Summer 2025, as seen at Milan Fashion Week, the calendar chosen again by the firm to present its new work in the space called PELOTA JAI ALAI, where once inside one could barely see and had to be guided by the immaculate white colour of the gowns worn by the people in charge of the show.
Such colour was transferred to the lights and took over 100% of them, to the beat of techno music (making the floor rumble) the models began to come out forcefully, offering a selection of different garments to what we are used to but appropriate to the seasons and their respective high temperatures, as sometimes there are brands that present pieces that are far away from reality. In the case of MM6, it was clear that there was truth in them and that when combined with white, beige, or mint green – the predominant tones of the line – the final result was a luxury item designed to be worn and enjoyed, both in the daytime and at night.
Corroborating this argument is the tailoring, the various deconstructed clothes worn without anything underneath, the fine knitted jumpers with big V-necklines, the xs trousers combined with different styles of footwear as cowboy boots, or the iconic Dr.Martens 1460 8 eyelets – reimagined and developed in the same deconstructed effect that some pieces have-, and with accessories as clutch, sunglasses, or belts.
MM6 Margiela wants to get into people’s wardrobes and not design to stay in inventory.
