Martin Niklas Wieser S/S 2014
by Christopher Riedl

For a long time I thought there is nothing more exciting out there than women‘s fashion. In my perception it was always hard to think of an outstanding outfit for a man (including myself) – everything was kind of the same and never surprising to me. Women always had the freedom to dress up in so many different ways and styles, that it is hard to choose. Over the last couple of years, luckily, my view and the fashion scene tremendously changed. Right now, I am assured that men‘s fashion is groundbreaking and definitely more intriguing than it ever was before. It is all due to these blurred lines between men and women, skirts and trousers, tops and t-shirts. And Martin Niklas Wieser. A promising design new comer based in Berlin, who creates fashion for all of us: unisex clothing with that extra eye on details.
Martin Niklas Wieser, who graduated from Kunsthochschule Weißensee, made me love his label ever since I saw his previous, all-white collection. His love for detailing and his smart thinking way while designing a piece of clothing is what made me stick with him.
Fucking Young! reviewed his recent Spring Summer 2014 Collection. One thing is for sure: We can expect a terrific, fashionable summer.
This time, Wieser uses a more darker color palette mixed with ruby red, forrest green and sparkling silver. In collaboration with artist Guillaume Airiaud, he created a series of metal pieces for the collection. His classic cuts got twisted by elements of deconstruction and calmed down with well-known designs like a raglan sleeve and pleated-front trousers. If we look closer, we espy a second pleat on the side of the trousers – one of his key-pieces of the SS 2014 collection.
Especially his mixture of different, nearly opposite textures is fascinating and stands for itself. The collection contains coats, turtle-necks, beautiful dresses, cropped tops, one of my favorite bomber jackets of the season and other delightful pieces to fall in love with. Have a closer look and get inspired for your new spring/summer wardrobe!
