MAISON MARGIELA x GENTLE MONSTER 2025 Collection
by Adriano Batista
Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster are back with their third eyewear collaboration, set to launch on March 6, 2025. This collection explores the meeting point of classic and futuristic styles, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern digital influences. The result is a range of 20 unique eyewear designs—eight sunglasses and twelve spectacles—that mix familiar shapes with bold, futuristic touches.
The collection includes standout pieces like the MM201 sunglasses, which have a sleek, metallic look and come in silver and green. These sunglasses draw inspiration from Maison Margiela’s iconic L’Incognitos from 2008. Other designs, like the MM202 and MM203, feature narrow, goggle-like frames and futuristic curves, available in black, silver, and red. The MM204 and MM205 take classic oval shapes and give them a robotic twist, offered in black, navy, red, and gray.
For those who prefer a more traditional look with a modern edge, the MM206, MM207, and MM208 sunglasses offer updated takes on oval, rectangular, and cat-eye shapes. These come in colors like black, navy, red, and tortoise shell. The collection also includes lightweight frames, such as the almond-shaped MM216 and the narrow oval MM220, available in gold and silver.
The spectacles in the collection feature frameless designs and wide temples, combining classic shapes with futuristic details. Pieces like the MM209, MM210, and MM211 come in black, brown, navy, and red, while the MM213 offers a stretched cat-eye shape in black, gray, and tortoise shell. Wire temple designs add a delicate touch, with soft cat-eye and round lenses available in black, gray, and red.
