It is impressive to see how, within a few seasons only, Colm Dillane has managed to gather a massive community around his brand. Fans were fighting to get into his show at MAD in Paris last night, and the venue was beyond packed. Entitled ‘The Boy Who Jumped the Moon’, this latest KidSuper collection explored key notions of naïveté, innocence and dreams, which are some of the defining characteristics of any childhood.

Dillane’s world is dreamy, colorful and optimistic. His use of color is bold and his take on tailoring -and Americana- is pretty fun, individualistic and unconventional. But the show itself was the real spectacle, with models turning the pages of a gigantic book on stage as the story of the shy boy who turned into a super hero unfolded. That emphasis on bravery felt quite American and it was refreshing to see Dillane evoke positive values within what can only be described as a gloomy political landscape.

Collaboration being a key -and fundamental- part of his creative process as a designer, Dillane introduced a two-part collaboration with Mercedes-Benz as part of the Class of Creators, which was teased right before the show. Dillane reinterpreted the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA as superhero on wheels with an impressive and imposing installation that wooed his audience.
