KENZO and Levi’s® dropped a new capsule collection. It’s a fusion of Eastern and Western fashion traditions, and it’s got that authentic denim vibe.

In their first-ever collaboration with Nigo at KENZO, they’ve brought together the rich cultural heritage of Parisian-Japanese fashion and classic American workwear. This Fall 2023 capsule collection for both men and women is all about denim. It’s a cross-pollination of historic Japanese craftsmanship and timeless American work attire, which is a big part of KENZO’s Artistic Director’s style.

This capsule collection, made primarily from top-notch Japanese Kaihara denim, embodies that authentic real-to-wear functionality that Nigo is known for. Nigo’s archives in Japan are a treasure trove of American denim, especially Levi Strauss & Co.’s original workwear designed for cowboys and miners. His passion for denim and its place in fashion history reflects Kenzo Takada’s legacy. Kenzo was all about the natural and democratic spirit of denim, and it inspired him to launch KENZO JEANS in 1986. Together, these elements create a wardrobe that’s a conversation between American style, Japanese craftsmanship, and Kenzo Takada’s DNA, which is what connects KENZO and Levi’s®.

The fusion of East and West that defines this collection is beautifully captured in a campaign shot in Kyoto. Japanese filmmaker Umi Ishihara, known for blending documentary and fiction, brings the collection to life in cinematic motion in two traditional mountain villas in Kyoto.
