Kartik Research is rethinking what it means to be Indian for their SS25 collection. Designer Kartik Kumra wants to move past the picture-perfect tourist version.

Sure, palaces and embroidery are cool, but this season explores the clothes people wear on religious journeys – a mix of fancy and practical. They also highlight the dedication of Indian artisans, whose work ethic goes beyond just making money.

Kumra’s not blind to India’s problems, like social media filters hiding reality. But he’s still optimistic. Their new Delhi store connected him with a local creative scene full of energy and determination.

The collection reflects this. Handwoven khadi fabrics, a symbol of Indian independence, form the base. Collaborations with Converse and local embroidery masters add unique details.
