Jil Sander has launched its first premium fragrance collection with Coty, called Olfactory Series 1. Under the direction of Lucie and Luke Meier, the collection features six minimalist, unisex fragrances. These fragrances combine aldehydes with natural ingredients, creating unique scents. The focus is on simplicity, using only fragrance, three key natural ingredients, synthetic aldehydes, recycled alcohol, and water. This approach aims for clear and expressive scents. The fragrances utilize advanced technology to connect nature and human experience, expressing deep emotions.
Olfactory Series 1 is inspired by the idea of “your invisible self.” It explores individuality and balance, combining intimacy and presence, feminine and masculine, day and night, humanity, nature, and technology. The collection recognizes that scent, like touch, can evoke powerful memories and emotions. It’s about perceiving oneself differently, with a subtle yet strong impact.
Five perfumers created the fragrances featuring aldehydes, which enhance the key notes and give the natural ingredients new forms of expression. The result is simple, unexpected, and comfortable scents.
Jil Sander Leaf (Julie Massé): Verdant freshness, like a black Krim tomato, with lime, cardamom, mint, and enhanced greenness.
Jil Sander Miel (Mathilde Bijaoui): Woody, savory, magnetic, with cedarwood, vetiver, jasmine, and honeyed florals.
Jil Sander Black Tea (Nathalie Lorson): Ambery, spicy, with osmanthus, cinnamon, black tea, and warm softness.
Jil Sander Earth (Julie Massé): Rain-soaked earthiness with rose, patchouli, and a hyper-realistic, organic feel.
Jil Sander Coffea (Paul Guerlain): Floral ambery, with coffee beans, iris, Peru balsam, and roasted notes.
Jil Sander Smoke (Berenice Watteau): Woody, smoky, spicy, with cedarwood, cade, elemi, and fresh notes.
The bottle, a collaboration between Lucie and Luke Meier and Formafantasma, reflects the collection’s quietly disruptive character. The small, random imperfections make each bottle unique. The white aluminum cap protects the fragrance from light and evokes the gesture of holding something precious.
